Job Function:

This role oversees the Treasury activities across the SSA Region. Is responsible for managing the liquidity, foreign exchange and interest rate risks within DP World global treasury guidelines and policies. This entails implementing funding, hedging, general banking, asset-backed and trade finance, guarantees, letters of credit and other banking products to facilitate business growth. Oversee the daily cash management to optimise interest expense and source FX lines for imports in various countries. Furthermore, the role will provide support to the business in all funding and hedging related issues, which are not dealt with directly from Group Treasury. Further, the role will be responsible for the direction and oversight of the SSA region’s treasury policies and objectives. This includes but is not limited to; treasury compliance, treasury planning, intercompany treasury activities, compliance audits, cash management/forecasting, banking relationships, and implementation of policies. Manage the relations with banking partners and deal with regulatory requirements such as exchange controls where applicable. Oversee the allocation of capital and compliance to bank covenants.

Key performance areas:

  • Coordinate activities to achieve the most efficient funding structure, optimal funding rates, efficient cash management and liquidity at competitive foreign exchange rates.
  • Implement, maintain, or improve existing cash pooling structures to support the day-to-day operation of the logistics business.
  • Review the cash management strategies of the units that are outside of the cash pool to ensure they are optimised and compliant with group policy.
  • Lead negotiating and execution of current or new banking facilities/long term loan agreements, in collaboration with DPW Group Treasury.
  • Manage intergroup funding structures as far as applicable that is not managed by DPW Group Treasury directly.
    Develop and implement guidelines regarding execution of short- & long-term debt, fixed & floating rate debt, hedging of FX risks.
  • Managing the issuance of Guarantees, Letters of Comfort and South African Reserve Bank (SARB) applications where required.
  • Perform foreign currency and interest rate hedging in close collaboration with DPW Group Treasury.
  • Oversee the negotiation and execution of various transactions such as cross currency swaps, interest rate swaps, foreign exchange contracts.
  • Manage all required reporting including board and operational reports and ensure that the reports are accurate and analytically correct.
  • Drive the development of a healthy, high-performance culture across the Treasury capability, in alignment with DP World cultural objectives.
  • Ensure, and assume ultimate accountability for the implementation of continuous improvement best practices for the Treasury capability, processes, and systems

Qualifications required:

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • CPA and Certified Treasury Professional (CTP)preferred.
    CA and/or CFA

Skills & Experience Required:

At least 10 years experience in the management of a corporate treasury function across various countries including Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana
