Rand edges firmer, stocks retreat in cautious trade

In fixed income, the yield on the benchmark government bond due in 2030 rose 5.5 basis point to 9.55%.

Bonds also gained, with the yield on the benchmark bond due in 2030 down 6 basis points to 9.485%.

Bonds inched lower, with the yield on the benchmark 2030 government issue up slightly to 9.525%.

Bonds also rallied, with the yield on the benchmark 2030 government bond down 15 basis points to 9.135%.

At 1530 GMT the rand was 0.06% firmer at R16.52 per dollar compared to an overnight close of R16.53.
