Head of Treasury – Africa

This is honestly one of those very niche treasury roles that requires someone operating at a high level commercially, strategically, and technically.

We are looking for someone who understands the realities of treasury across African markets, not just from a reporting perspective, but someone who has genuinely dealt with funding structures, liquidity pressures, FX exposure, banking relationships, repatriation challenges, and emerging market complexities.

The role sits within a large multinational environment and works closely with international leadership teams across Africa and London.

Some of the exposure includes:
• Treasury strategy across multiple African jurisdictions
• Funding, liquidity, and cash flow oversight
• Banking facility negotiations
• FX and market risk management
• Working capital solutions
• Treasury governance and controls
• Supporting large projects and commercial decision-making
• Leading and developing a treasury team

This role needs someone commercially mature who can operate independently, build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, and remain calm in fairly complex and fast-moving environments.

Johannesburg is preferred and there will be frequent travel across Africa and internationally.

Key areas of responsibility include:

• Treasury strategy and oversight across multiple African market.
  Funding and liquidity management.
• Cash flow forecasting and working capital solutions.
• Banking facilities and relationship management.
• FX risk and market exposure management.
• Treasury governance, controls, and reporting.
• Support on strategic and commercial projects.
• Leadership and development of the Regional Treasury team.

Requirements:

• Relevant Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or similar with Membership of Association of Corporate Treasurers, desirable.
• Extensive corporate treasury / banking / financial markets experience at a group senior level overseeing a team.
• Strong exposure to African or emerging market environments.
• Experience operating across multiple jurisdictions.
• Strong commercial judgement and stakeholder management skills.
