At the beginning of the year we at the ACTSA office had set out our diary for the first half of the year. With grand plans in mind it came to a grinding halt when the country went into lockdown and we were left wondering where to from here?
However, despite the challenges we are all facing as a result of the Covid 19 pandemic ACTSA changed gears and relooked at how we can remain relevant and active for our members. In doing so we have been able to stay visible through a number of virtual avenues.
As we enter the last quarter of the year we continue to learn and grow in new ways. We hope that we can network face-to-face in the near future but until then virtual platforms to communicate and network are for now the norm and we will continue to provide content that is pertinent to the treasury industry.
We must also thank our members, who have so graciously continued their support for the Association. Put simply without your support we wouldn’t be able to do what we do.
ACTSA Board Members
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new Board Members; Chairperson Jolandi Marais (Rand Refinery Ltd), Basia Lebata (BASF Holdings (Pty) Ltd), Serena McGinn (Sappi South Africa Ltd) and Trevor Starke (AECI Ltd). Our appreciation must be expressed to Mark Schwartz for his service as the ACTSA Chairman for the past three years.
Outgoing board members who collectively and loyally served ACTSA for 43 years are Steven Ball (19 years), Nigel Grey (13 years) and Rob Hayes (11 years). We wish these stalwarts of ACTSA all the best in their future endeavours.
Board Members, whilst voluntary, play a very crucial role in guiding the ACTSA team with their vast experience and knowledge.
The Association of Corporate Treasurers of Southern Africa compiled a survey in order to get cutting edge insight on how treasury teams are preparing for the future in uncertain times.
We asked our members to participate in the survey so that we could identify key areas that we as an Association can share valuable content/information that will help navigate disruption and understand how you can position your business to benefit from the evolving environment.

ACTSA is delighted that we will still be producing our annual SA Treasurers Journal with this year’s title being “Opportunity in Crisis: Rethinking Treasury”. We will be sending out the electronic version in the coming weeks to our members. So please keep an eye on your inbox for this year’s edition.
The Careers Page on the website as ACTSA is posed to provide the perfect platform for a treasury focused careers page, in the quest to continuously uplift and professionalise the treasury environment. The careers page is two fold:
1. It allows job seekers, both members and non-members, interested in a career in treasury the opportunity to seek Treasury specific jobs posted on this page.
2. Companies seeking the right person with the right skills, the platform will enable ACTSA Members the opportunity to post vacancies whereby the treasury skills required for the vacancy would be crystallised, to better understand the ultimate requirements of a true treasurer.
